Sales of existing homes continuesd at a torrid place in April, rising 2.5% to a seasonally adjusted annual rate of 6.64 million units from March. The national median home price in April was $176,000, up 7.3% from a year earlier, the National Association of Realtors reported yesterday. So far this year, home sales a re running at the second-highest pace on record, and the association expects May home sales to remain strong.
